Therapeutic Approaches
Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT)
Developed by Dr. Les Greenberg, Emotion-Focused Therapy is an evidence-based, experiential approach that helps you understand and work with your emotions in a deeper way. EFT is based on the idea that emotions are central to how we make sense of ourselves and our experiences. In therapy, we gently explore emotional patterns, access core feelings, and support the transformation of painful emotional experiences—creating space for greater clarity, self-compassion, and lasting change.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
Developed by Dr. Francine Shapiro, EMDR is an evidence-based therapy that helps the brain process and integrate distressing or traumatic experiences. EMDR is grounded in the understanding that unprocessed memories can remain “stuck,” continuing to impact how we feel, think, and respond in the present. Through a structured process that includes bilateral stimulation (such as guided eye movements), EMDR supports the natural healing capacity of the brain—allowing these experiences to be processed.
Lifespan Integration (LI)
Developed by Peggy Pace, Lifespan Integration is a gentle, body-based therapy that helps the nervous system fully process and integrate past experiences. It is based on the understanding that when difficult or overwhelming events aren’t fully processed, they can feel as though they are still happening in the present. Using a guided timeline of memories, LI helps the brain recognize that those experiences are in the past—supporting a sense of continuity, safety, and groundedness in the present. Over time, this can lead to reduced emotional reactivity, increased stability, and a deeper sense of self.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is an evidence-based approach that focuses on the connection between thoughts, emotions, and behaviours. CBT is based on the idea that the way we interpret situations can shape how we feel and respond. In therapy, we work together to identify unhelpful thought patterns, build more balanced and supportive ways of thinking, and develop practical tools to navigate challenges. CBT can be especially helpful for managing anxiety, depression, and day-to-day stress, while supporting meaningful, sustainable change over time.
